Making Tennessee a National Leader In Education

Dr. Tim Webb, Tennessee's Commissioner of Education has written a letter addressed to Superintendents and School Board Members.  This letter discusses the current educational reform taking place in our state.  When coupled together, the Tennessee Diploma Project and the First to the Top (Race to the Top) initiatives will change public education in Tennessee drastically over the next few years.  Please take a moment to read Dr. Webb's letter to gain a better understanding of the changes taking place for our children and our state.  It is exciting to know that the children of Moore County and the state of Tennessee will lead the nation in academic achievement soon!

Tennessee Diploma Project

The Tennessee Diploma Project has begun!  Below you will find links to information regarding this major reform in the educational process in our state.  This project will challenge our teachers, students, administrators, and parents.  The level of acceptable academic achievement has been increased tremendously.  We will all have to work together to attain success.  This first year of the new standards, new tests, and new baseline for assessment will likely prove difficult and will be evident on next year's school system report card.  The State of Tennessee has applied for and received waivers from the U. S. Department of Education under No Child Left Behind.  We are raising the academic bar for Tennessee and the federal government recognizes this.  Please take  a moment to review the material below and be sure to call me or either of the schools if you have any questions.
