FFA Happenings

The 2009-10 Moore County FFA Association began their year with the training of the newly elected FFA officers in June. Officers attended their annual “Leadership on the River” Officer Training June 16th,17th, and 18th. FFA Officers Mikaela Bundy - Secretary, Cody Woodard - Chaplin, Kylee Millard - President, Amber Millsaps - Vice-President, Hunter Limbaugh - Sentinel, Emily Nicholson - Reporter, and Emily Cornelius - Treasurer. Moore County conducts this leadership training each summer in cooperation with Woodbury FFA, Lincoln Co. FFA, Giles Co. FFA and Richland FFA.

Moore County FFA Chapter was recently honored with a visit from Mr. Chris Martin, State Sentinel. After conducting many activities and FFA orientation with chapter members, the chapter took him to Miss Mary Bobo's for lunch. Mr. Moorehead, Mr. Mooney and Mrs. Vann were able to attend as well.

In September FFA Members Morgan Hovis, Kylee Millard, Faith Few, and Patti Clark participated in the State FFA Horse Judging CDE at Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro. The team placed third in their District. Miss Millard had he 4th highest score in Tennessee.

Also in September, Moore County FFA co-sponsored Progressive Agriculture Foundation Safety Day. FFA Members along with Duck River Electric, Mr. Kip Hicks of Infinity O & P, Tri-Green Equipment, Mr. Wayne Eslick, Vanderbilt Life-Flight, Metro-Moore EMS, Mr. Ronnie Smith and Mr. Mark Neal of Metro Moore Fire Department conduct this event each September. The FFA members conduct many of the individual safety sessions, serve as group leaders, logistics, publicity, and time keepers. This Safety Day is for the LES 4th Grade Students. The Moore County FFA wants to thank LES Principal Mr. Smith and MCHS Principal Mr. Mooney for their continued support of this event.
